The original TAP Controller requires a WiFi Dongle. All other controllers in the TAP Ecosystem have integrated WiFi.
Yes, a TP-Link TL-WN823n WiFi Dongle is needed to connect the original TAP Controller to local WiFi networks and can be purchased here.
Note: TAP II, as well as all of our other controllers, have integrated WiFi and do not require a WiFi Dongle.
If you’re unsure what type of controller you’re using, you can easily tell the difference between an original TAP and a TAP II Controller by looking at the user interface:
