How do reviews for TAP Kiln Control Mobile compare to kiln control apps from other manufacturers?

TAP Kiln Control Mobile is (by far!) the highest rated kiln control app and the only one that offers true remote control.

Note: All app reviews for the TAP Kiln Control Mobile, as well as the apps from other kiln controller manufacturers, were collected in August 2026 – you can view the most recent reviews on the App Store or the Google Play Store (our reviews get better every year as we continue to update and improve the app!). 

When the TAP Kiln Control Mobile app released in 2016, it was the first integrated kiln control mobile app on the market. While our competitors have tried to catch up over the past eight years, TAP Kiln Control Mobile remains the only true remote kiln control app on the market (as far as we know!).

Orton has a detachable handheld controller option (that’s limited by range), as well as kiln monitoring software for Windows that doesn’t include schedule creating, editing, or execution.

The Bartlett Genesis 2.0 (their flagship touchscreen controller) includes the KilnAid App which allows users to monitor kiln firing but doesn’t provide options for remote control. On the App Store, the KilnAid App has a rating of 2.5 stars, compared to 4.8 for TAP (47.92% lower). On the Google Play Store, KilnAid has a rating of 2.3 stars, compared to 4.1 for TAP (46.34% lower).

Skutt’s KilnLink App allows for remote kiln viewing and diagnostics but doesn’t include any remote control or schedule creation features. It has a 1.9 star rating on the App Store and a 2.6 star rating on the Google Play Store (60.42% and 36.59% lower than the TAP Kiln Control Mobile app, respectively).

Additionally, TAP Kiln Control Mobile is significantly more popular than Bartlett KilnAid with 230 total reviews and 5k+ downloads on the Play Store, compared to 107 reviews and 1k+ downloads for Bartlett KilnAid. While KilnLink's downloads are comparable with 5k+ downloads as well, it's only received 144 total reviews compared to TAP's 230, with consistently lower scores across the board.

When you do a side-by-side feature comparison, it's easy to see why TAP Kiln Control Mobile gets consistently higher reviews: It offers more features for free than KilnAid and KilnLink do in their paid plans, and its premium plan is the only one that allows for fully remote firing adjustments, kiln control, and schedule creation that syncs in real-time with your controller.
