I bought a kiln with TAP preinstalled. How do I tell if I have an original TAP, TAP II, or TAP II Pro Controller?
If your Start and Menu buttons are on the left, you have an original TAP. If your Start and Menu buttons are on the right, you have a TAP II or a TAP II Pro.
Sometimes, especially if you purchase a kiln with a controller preinstalled, it can be confusing to know whether you have an original TAP, a TAP II, or a TAP II Controller. The easiest way to tell the difference is to look at your controller’s Home Screen:

- If your Start and Menu buttons are on the left side of the screen, you’re using an original TAP Controller.
- If your Start and Menu buttons are on the right side of the screen, you’re using a TAP II or TAP II Pro Controller.
If you're unsure whether you have a TAP II or a TAP II Pro, you can go to Menu>Settings. If your controller has an option for Firing Settings to enable Cone Fire Mode, then your controller is a TAP II Pro. If you do not have that option, then you have a TAP II Controller.
You can also check which controller you’re using from the TAP Kiln Control Mobile app by clicking the Info icon beside your kiln on the Summary Screen.
